Every once in a while, when I come across a resource too good to keep to myself, I share it here instead of posting my usual quick-and-easy activity.
You’re going to love The Barefoot Mommy. Written by a social justice activist and mom, The Barefoot Mommy offers a variety of children’s book lists, from Seventeen #ownvoices children’s books about Native Americans and First Nations Canadians to 12 Fairy Tales for Young Feminists to 11 Children’s Books about Immigrants and Refugees and more.
On the Barefoot Mommy site you’ll also find resources for teaching your child about different cultures and sparking a sense of global citizenship, for locating feminist gifts and those for global kids, and for parenting peacefully.
Rebekah, the author, speaks honestly on her blog about both the successes and challenges of parenting her young son and teenaged stepson in an anti-racist and social justice oriented way.
Check it out and sign up to receive her blog posts - you’'ll love it!
